Champions Trophy Twenty20 Openning Ceremony Live


Bangalore-based DNA Entertainment Networks has got the mandate to handle the opening ceremony of Airtel Champions League T20 on 8 October at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

As first reported by SportzPower, the opening ceremony of the Champions League will have the celebrated Shaolin Monks From China performing at the venue. A choreographed group of Shaolin Monks will display Tai Chi, Kung Fu and powerful Chi Kung movements, surrounded by the agile Kalaripayattu artistes from Kerala.

Apart from Shaolin Monks, Grammy award winning artistes Chaka Khan and Shaggy are also slated to perform at the event along with British pop star Jamelia, amongst others.

The half-hour, non-stop visual extravaganza will begin with the 12 team captains exchanging flags, and taking the 'Spirit of Cricket' oath to respect their opponents, their teams and their umpires.

They will leave their hand-prints in clay as special collector memorabilia, while 200 school children will perform a choreographed sequence to the theme song of Champions League before revealing the team logos, and releasing thousands of balloons.

Twelve world-renowned Japanese drummers will commence the entertainment event which will be followed by international dancers in Michelle Ferranti’s costumes, running across the field using long yards of white silk to create an ethereal picture with spiral shapes that capture the luminescent rays of state-of-the-art intelligent lighting.

Legendary Grammy award winner Chaka Khan will take centre stage to enthral crowds with her hit single I feel for you, along with acrobatic cube artistes joining alongside with their gymnastic movements within a freestanding cube.

A high-powered multi-coloured laser show is on the cards for the performance of Grammy award-winning artiste Shaggy during his hit single Feel the rush. To complement this, eight wind machines powered by turbo blowers specially brought in from Holland will throw up fabric high into the air along with eight wind dancers. British pop star Jamelia will also perform her international super hit song Superstar.

For the finale, all artistes will converge onto the field to a mesmerising, synchronised segment of lights, laser, concert sound and a display of fireworks, which will come together to make a spectacular climax.

Tickets for the opening ceremony and the following match are priced between Rs 200 to Rs 1500.
